Record baseline and change
Before and after each Aerolase acne visit, note the types and locations of new lesions, particularly painful or deep ones. Photograph the same area in similar light and record changes in your skin-care products or medicines. The AAD says laser response can vary and often forms only part of an acne plan, so a clear timeline matters more than one good or bad day.
Separate expected effects from concerns
Ask the treating clinician what short-lived redness or irritation they expect and what symptoms should trigger contact. Follow their written skin-care and sun instructions rather than copying another patient’s routine. If acne flares, do not assume the laser caused it or that another session will resolve it; bring the timing and photographs to the review.
Know when to reconsider
At the agreed checkpoint, compare lesion patterns with the original goal. If deep acne continues, scars are appearing, or the result is unclear, ask whether dermatology care or a different medical plan should take priority. After the initial series, ask whether your response supports a maintenance session. Review that decision with the clinician before extending a prepaid plan.
Questions and answers
How quickly should I judge the result?
Ask for the clinic’s review timing for your plan and track changes across several weeks, not a single day.
