Use consistent comparison
A scar can appear flatter in front light and deeper in side light. Before Aerolase scar treatment, photograph the area from the same angle, distance, and lighting you will use later. Note whether the target is raised tissue, depression, redness, or a color difference. The clinic advertises scar treatment, but the measurable goal should be personal and specific.
Allow for a series
The AAD says laser scar treatment can require multiple visits and that results depend on scar and skin type. Ask when the clinician expects to assess change after each session and whether another treatment would add value. Wait until temporary redness or swelling has settled before assessing the outcome. Agree on a review point as well, so each further session has a stated reason.
Report problems promptly
Get written aftercare and a contact route for unusual pain, blistering, pigment changes, or delayed healing. Tell the clinician if you develop new acne or another injury near the scar, since that may alter the plan. At review, ask what remains likely to improve and whether referral or a different scar approach is warranted.
Questions and answers
Can a scar disappear completely?
That should not be assumed. Ask what kind and degree of improvement is realistic for the specific scar.
